Thai Papaya Salad

Green Papaya Salad, Som Tam is a very common dish eaten throughout Thailand. It’s tasty, light and extremely delicious and healthy for you.

Ingredients: 2 cups shredded green papaya, 2 small tomatoes, 1 teaspoon lime juice, 1 and half fish sauce, 1 and half palm sugar, 3 whole garlic cloves, 2 fresh Thai chilies, 2 teaspoon honey dry roasted peanuts, 3 teaspoon dried shrimp, long bean broken into 1.5” pieces

Method: First prepare the papaya by peeling the green skin, cut in half, and shred. In the ceramic motor and pestle, add chilies and garlic, then well pound in a mortar. Add dried shrimps, pound until soft, then add roasted peanuts, long beans and gently pound. Add the palm sugar, fish sauce. Lime juice and pound more. Add tomatoes cut into large pieces and pound more but not hard. Add the papaya; pound about 10 to 15 times.  Make sure everything is well mixed. Taste for sweet, salty and sour flavor and serve it immediately.
