Myanmar Sour Leaves and Bamboo Shoot Recipe


Myanmar Sour Leaves and Bamboo Shoot Recipe is very well known as “Chin Paung Kyaw” in Myanmar. This is very popular, great recipe and everyone love it.

Ingredients: Sour Leaves, bamboo shoots, onion, garlic, dried chili, shrimp paste, dried shrimp powder or small shrimps or pork, fish sauce, salt, oil, fresh chili

Spice Paste: garlic and dried chilies (soaked in warm water and seed removed)


Well pound all Spice Paste or blend in a food processor or motor. Peel onion, wash, and then coarsely slice into pieces. Heat up a pot on medium heat and add the oil. When oil is hot, add slice onion and stir-fry about 1 minute. Follow by blend paste and stir-fry until aromatic. Add slice pork and stir well until cooked. Add sour leaves and bamboo shoots. Mix shrimp past into small amount of water and then add into the sour leaves and bamboo shoots. Add salt, fish sauce and fresh chili and stir well again. Follow by half cup of water and bring all ingredients are well dissolved. Check for taste and enjoy it.
